Helpful Hints from the Oldies

Here we are in St. George looking a book that out dates my GRANDMA! Its full of recipes, hints and how to's. Some are incredibly helpful, others....Not so much. Take a looksy.

1. To Help keep cookies in the cookie jar from drying out, place crumbled tissue paper in the bottom. They keep fresh and crisp.
Me: Is this talking about "toilet paper", tissue you use to blow your nose or wrapping/gift tissue?

2. To soften marshmallows, put slice of fresh bread into the bag of marshmallows, seal with twisty and in a day you'll have soft marshmallows.
Me: Uh, what if you need them right away?

3. When baking a fruit pie that might run over in the oven, stick a piece of below macaroni in the top pie crust and no more trouble with pie spills.
Me: Like a chimney for your pie!

4. Add a little vinegar to the water in which you rinse silk stocking, it will make them practical run proof.

Me: Yeah, I heard vinegar is the new smell of all the celebs! Oh wait....what are silk stockings?

5. Glue a cork to the top of your recipe file box. Make a slit in the cork and you have a handy holder for the recipe you're using.
Me: So smart...now how to incorporate that for my recipe scrapbook.

6. (This really is the best one) If you drop an egg on the floor, sprinkle it with salt and let set until dry. It can then be easily swept up.
Me: Note, this does not cover what to do if you drop the egg on the carpet. In that case I recommend you clean up the egg as soon as you drop it. Be sure to set up cones too so no one walks through the drying egg. The process can take up to 3 hours depending on how warm you keep your home. To speed up the drying, just hit the egg with the blow dryer for about 10 min. then sweep with with your new Swifter Sweeper!

That's all from me! I sure hope these greats hints help you out in your everyday house wife/mommy duties!

Seriously Sadie, I think you should write your own humorous hint book. And where are the new pictures? Maybe a few from sunny St. George?
